Illusions

Right now, the planet is spinning at a rate of roughly 930 miles per hour. It’s orbiting the sun at an astonishing 66, 486 miles per hour, but unless you’re high or have just been twirling around very fast in your back garden, you are probably completely unaware of any such movement.  You are also not upright, but at an angle since the earth is round. These are just a few tiny examples of how we distort reality.

Turns out, most of the ideas we take for granted are illusions.  The brain receives about 400 billion bits of information per second. That’s about 600, 000 books filled with o’s per second. So we start filtering the information in order to only deal with what we believe to be relevant to us in the present moment.  Our brains continually sift through possibilities and continually choose what bits to perceive or connect to.

You are creating your reality right now so choose wisely. Every thought you think, every emotional pattern you practice is creating your world. Choose your thoughts and emotions carefully. Keep a diary of your thoughts and emotions for a few months and then look for patterns. How many hours between emotional patterns, between thoughts, between problems? What’s the average time lag between you thinking about something and it becoming true? What is your typical emotional stress response? What is your typical problem solving response? Is it serving you? Is it serving those you love? Are you willing to change?
